Relax, recover and revive yourself
Once you’ve arrived in Orba, you’ll have nothing more to worry about than what to do when you’ve finished that ice-cold lager or fresh juice.
If it’s too hot for sightseeing or shopping, you could head for a cooling drive through the mountains or go to Dénia or Jávea for a swim in the clean blue sea or to read your book under shade on the beach.
Read our guide to the key attractions, so you can start looking forward to your escape:
Beaches for kids
The Blue Flag beaches of Les Marines and Les Rotes are ideal for children as the sand is level and the sea shallow and calm. Frequent lifeguard patrols make it extra safe.
Kids who love sifting through rock pools will love the rocky southern beaches like Les Rotes.
You may even catch some succulent crab for supper or some sea urchins, a local delicacy in this part of Spain.
Wheelchairs welcome
Els Molins and La Punta del Raset beaches have been adapted, making them fully accessible for those of us who aren’t as mobile as we used to be.
There are sand wheelchairs; ramps and Red Cross trained helpers on hand so you can now easily take a cooling dip in the Med, maybe have a go at snorkeling too.
Solitude and seclusion
At the end of Las Rotas is the lovely, secluded cove of La Cala. It’s very private and now quite popular with naturists.
You can reach it by descending a steep narrow staircase with a handrail. So decide how fit you feel before you attempt it; the climb back up is a challenge.
Surfing and diving
The best beaches for windsurfing are Les Marines. Here, the gentler breezes of the morning give way to bracing southwest winds in the afternoon, ideal for a surf or sail.
For scuba divers, San Antonio natural marine reserve is a multicoloured paradise below the ocean.
Out and about
Hop onboard the Lemon Express for a delightful trip along the coast to Altea, Calpe, Benidorm or Gata de Gorgos. The views are spectacular.
You can even visit the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Majorca or Minorca from Dénia, boats leave daily from the harbour.
We can highly recommend a trip to Guadalest. It’s a charming mountain village with amazing views from the castle ramparts. You’ll pick up some lovely gifts to take home in the quaint village shops, reached via a tunnel through the mountain.
Back to nature
Back on land, a drive out through the beautiful Jalón valley to the rushing Algar Waterfalls for an inspiring day out. You may even catch sight of a Golden Eagle soaring above.
Tarbena is just south from Orba, a very pretty village with narrow walled streets that is particularly attractive in spring when the trees are decked out with sweet smelling almond blossom.
Family Fun
Even children sometimes get bored of the beach, so take them on an adventure instead:
- Vergel Safari Park – a drive through safari of lions, tigers and packs of wolves that also features a lively dolphin show.
- Terra Mittica Adventure Park - based on global myths and ancient legends, this theme park has both gentle rides for toddlers and giant roller coasters for older children.
- Aqualandia Water Park – paddling pools, water chutes and invigorating wave pool, perfect place to go on scorching summer days.
- Terra Natura Animal Theme Park – both a busy zoo and incredible water park, where you can even swim with sharks.
You can’t possible see and do everything that’s possible on a two week holiday here. Why not check out our selection of Orba Property; you might decide to stay.
